Welcome to the Unofficial THPS site for the Dark Skies Assosation

The Dark Skies Assosiation is an organization dedicated to the preservation of our night sky, so that we may be able to observe the heavens without obstuction. Light pollution, centered in urban areas, poses a major hazard to observation of the sky, even by one's naked eye. The Talent House, now focusing on it's astronomy program, recently discovered several hinderances to its goals, most prominantly inefficiant lighting. Therefore, the Talent House has begun to recitfy this problem, and this site is meant as a place where they can post their findings and general information on preserving the night sky and on astronomy in general.

Eighth Grade is currently applying for a grant from Virginia Power to recieve instructional materials and jump-start it's Science program with a new Orion 6" telescope.
